Summer Medallion Quiltalong

I finally got the binding on and sewn!! Complete! Woo-Hoo!! I'd love to see yours so I'm going to add Mr Linky so we call all see. Please add whatever you have of the medallion sewalong.  If we've seen it before, that's ok, because I have a very short memory!
Love this patriotic backing.

Show me yours please......

The Traditional Side of the Quilt Show

I'm going to wrap up the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show with a few of my favorite traditional quilts. I don't want to leave you with the impression they were all modern style quilts.

This is Pam's Swoon quilt. It is fun to see a quilt, take a photo, then go in for a look at the maker and see someones name that you know.
Love, love, love the setting!

What's not to love about a two color quilt? Instant antique.....

I hope you enjoyed the show! I look forward to every year with anticipation.

The Stitchin' Post

While I'm on the subject of modern quilting this is what greeted me at the Stitchin' Post when I arrived on Tuesday.
They put a lot of work into getting the store ready for the quilt show, but what I noticed was all the modern quilts hanging!!

I thought this skirt was a little out of place.
The employees challenge on the Stichin' Post wall quilt show day. It is always fun to see. It's very modern this year.
I met Pam from Library Gal Quilts for a brief visit. This is our third year of seeing each other during quilt show week.
Ruth from Country Log Cabin and I have had lunch together a few years ago and I was thrilled to be able to drop by and see her as well.
And to end this post with a bit of traditional quilting, here is Gone to Texas in Ruth's 5th wheel! Way to bring your quilting camping!!!

Sisters Show- Teacher's Tent

After the antique quilts I went to the teacher's tent.  There is always quilts to admire and inspire.
Although I am far away from Kathy Doughty (Material Obsessions) as far as quilt style, I follow her blog. She is funny, authentic and inspires creativity in life.  This is her Gypsy Kisses inspired by Kaffe.
Kathy created this amazing piece from a photo of her husband.  I don't own any of her books but want to give you a heads up on her new one- "Making Quilts, The Promise of Joy". What a great title!
I met Kathy last year in Sisters (or was that 2 years ago?) and I was happy to spend a few minutes with her this past week. She is a remarkable woman!!
The houses and baskets were done by Tonye Phillips. I consider these tradition with a twist.
In my opinion the Stitchin' Post every year takes on a more modern bent to quilting. It was especially obvious to me this year seeing the Quilt Show teachers tent.

An integral part of the "modern" approach seems to be the quilting. Even this very traditional pieced quilt has a fun modern bit of quilting. Be sure to look close at the quilting in the quilts I'm showing today.
Even Sue Spargo doesn't look traditional surrounded by the modern quilts.

What's this? A VERY traditional quilt.....border on, ready for backing and quilting!!

Antique Quilts Part 2

The antique are my favorites so I'm going to show another post of them.

I'd like to try and make this block. This one now resides in CA.

Dumb photo with the shadow, but I thought the border was hilarious! Is it supposed to be a swag?

Gotta love the cheddar.
This pomegranate quilt was in a store and was amazing! Love the crocheted border and look at that quilting!

You all left so many kind comments this week. I have my little used IPad (which I am not familiar with) and my phone and that is how I posted and read blogs and email this week. I didn't get to respond to very many, but wanted to let you know how much I appreciate every single comment!

Love to you all!
