Final Quilt of 2015

I'm calling this mini quilt "Tissu Francais de Beauville" Not very creative, but all of the fabric, except the French General solid tan backing, is from the Beauville linen factory in France.
I saw this adorable little quilt on ebay recently and thought it would be a adorable little one to recreate with my French fabric.
Not too bad, huh? I should probably dirty mine up a little? LOL
Here's a few close ups of some strange little creatures.
Have a wonderful night and stay safe! I'll be back in 2016!!

First Friday

I wasn't able to make it to the First Friday event at Quiltworks, but thankfully they leave the quilt exhibit up for a month and I try my best to see it.

The Sundance Art Quilters had a display from their members called "Color Improv".

 Earth, Wind and Sky

The two photos below were based on books. I love them both!!

The next exhibit was by the Blockin' Robbins and were friendship quilts.

 And my very favorite........................
These were the most adorable self portrait quilt blocks. I love how she will display them as a banner.

How doggone cute is that?! I'd love to try this!!

Have a fantastic day and a Happy New Year!

Christmas ReCap

The weekend before Christmas we decided we'd find a place to stay at the beach and travel there for Christmas. We found a place that would take our dog and left on Christmas Eve.

 It was a snowy drive.
But we were rewarded with an amazing Christmas Day forecast! It was cold, but look how pretty it was!
This is really unusual for the Oregon coast. They were still recovering from extensive flooding from the week before where they had 16" of rain in 24 hours!
We did a little exploring Christmas Day before our kids arrived.
It was a rare couple of days that it was only the 4 of us. I enjoyed it a lot.
 Look at this amazing sunset!

My son is opting to travel this coming year, starting in Mexico and working his was through Central and South America then flying to Denmark to see his host family. We knew he was getting rid of his household, but my daughter gave him this bandanna with hand sewn embroidery! (Adventure is Calling!)  I loaned her a hoop and some thread but had no idea what she was doing.  She is so thoughtful and likes to give wonderful personalized gifts.

She really loved the quilt!

She gave me this adorable sheep handmade in Peru! She knows I'm looking forward to going on my mission trip this coming fall.
I brought my aebleskiver pan and made them the day after Christmas. Delicious as usual! (back on the bandwagon TODAY! Need some accountability? go HERE and let me know)
Porter got some good relaxing in as well.

Sunday we woke to big waves, wind and rain!!

About 15 miles inland we hit snow! It is only 1500' in elevation and this is a rare occurrence. It was fun!
Once we got closer to home we were thankful to be going south! These cars were in line for miles! Now we are home safe with fun memories of a simple Christmas at the Oregon coast.
Here is Jaime with his mom and dad. The day all the food got delivered he told Francisco he would like, if it was possible, a tv for his family for Christmas. After hubby and I discussed it, we opted to give this to them for Christmas. I almost feel like I am corrupting them with a television!! (I don't like it much myself) but regardless, this is what we did.
I'm not sure about his mom and dad, but he sure looks happy! LOL

I'm looking forward to a quiet week contemplating 2015 and looking forward with anticipation to 2016.

In the St Nick of Time

I put the final stitches in the binding of the flannel quilt Monday night!! Whoop! Whoop!
Got it in the wash yesterday so it will be ready to do its duty at providing warmth right away! My niece saw it and said she'd like to be next in line for a flannel quilt! LOL
I did a simple horizontal quilt stitch about 2" apart. (in my humble sort of way, of course) I had the purple piece and the other pieces were gifted to me by a blog reader. Thank you!!
I'm playing with a few little pieces of French fabric too.......

Love to you all on this beautiful day!

Random Set Quilts

This month on Instagram I've been posting a few random quilt photos from around my house. As I've done that, I've realized some of my favorite quilts are the ones with random settings.

I never realized how many of these I've done! I've got a couple of ideas along this same line to do as an online group project. Keep that in mind as the new year rolls in.

Have a wonderful week!

It was the Friday before Christmas......

I cleaned the lint out of my machine after piecing the flannel top, but when I was getting it ready to piece the backing, there was a bobbin problem.
I couldn't figure it out and hubby took a few more screws out, then we were really in trouble!
My plan was to get Rene's quilt finished before Christmas.
I'll be bringing the Bernina in next week for repairs.

Meanwhile.........

My old Viking is filling in and doing a good job! I think I'll have the whole quilt completed by next Wednesday. (washed too!) So happy for a back up machine!
Here's my Instagram feed this week, in case you missed it.Lots of holiday cheer!
Its the last weekend before Christmas. Take time to be present and enjoy each day!! Don't rush so much that you forget why we celebrate.

Love to you all!
