Friday!

I've been doing a few things here and there this week, but not as much as I'd like.

Wool applique on Cheri's sampler. I'm doing a whipstitch so it's going pretty fast.
Here's block one on a collaboration. It will be revealed soon.
This weeks instagram feed if you missed it.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Rebekah Smith Wool Mystery

I'm doing a wool mystery on Facebook with Rebekah Smith.  The first month we added the bottom base.

The second month we added the tree.  And to be quite honest, I wasn't loving it.  But now that we've added little critters it is getting better.

I wonder if we'll be adding a nest? or feet?
Finally finished the owl Monday night. Hoot! Hoot!

Happy Wednesday friends!

Update August 2, 2016: I found out I wasn't supposed to be posting a photo of this mystery and removed it immediately, but not before someone pinned it on Pinterest. I've been kicked out of the group so I thought I may as well republish this blog post with photos.

Christmas in April

My commissioned quilt will be winging its way back to Michigan today!  So happy to have it done.
I had to use creative license as the drawings/pattern was very small to applique everything. I did quite a bit of embroidery.

I put the last section together this morning!
The fabrics are new from Diamond Textiles and were a pleasure to work with. They are called Farmhouse Brushed cotton.

Back to my regularly scheduled quilting........

An Evening With Gwen

Gwen Marston has been teaching quilting and have touched so many people with her fun and varied classes for so long. She is ending her teaching career in 2016 so I didn't want to pass up a chance to see her.  I've taken numerous classes with her and she was the featured speaker at the Sisters guild last night. Thanks to my friend Phyllis, she signed me up as her guest. (thank you again Phyllis!)
Here's a recap.
The night started with guild members sharing their Gwennie inspired quilts:

Jean Wells. owner of the Stitchin' Post, shared a little of her long friendship with Gwen  then introduced her.

Gwen's "37" sketches were hanging and she referred to these throughout the night.

Several of these small ones inspired larger quilts.

I think this one was one of my favorites of the abstract solids.

How many of you readers have taken a class from Gwen? I  think next week I'll share my "Gwennie" quilts.

And if you missed it, here's my Instagram feed for this week.

Make it a great weekend!

Little Quilts Swap

This little beauty arrived about a week ago and I've been savoring it to myself since then. I just love it! Thank you Karen Dever!!

And here is the backing, which I absolutely adore too!! My quilt is hanging where I can enjoy it throughout the day.I'll treasure it!

I've heard and seen many little quilts that have made it to their new home, but if you are not finished sewing yours, especially if you are sending overseas, now is the time to get it completed and in the mail.
We'll have a linky party sometime the first week in May so we will be able to see them all. I look forward to it.

Let's make it a fantastic week!

Made it to Friday!

I'm taking a few minutes here and there and getting a little quilting done. I'm focusing more on the commissioned quilt and I am making progress. Maybe I'll show you another sneak peak next week. I'm leaving my sewing machine downstairs and that helps.

Here are all my 1857 quilt blocks so far. I'm all caught up!
 I finished this one.....
 And this one........
Here are the 4 blocks for April. These are from Gay at Sentimental Stitches.
Here is my Scrapbasket Sampler quilt from Cheri. My wool pieces are ready to hand stitch down. When I get the top and bottom borders appliqued I'll add the two side borders.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Woeful Wednesday

It's woeful because work is cutting into my sewing time!

One block of the 1857 quilt is complete.

Here are two critters that are going on the wool mystery of Rebekah Smith's. These will liven up the wintery tree.
And here's a few wool pieces I've been able to get cut out to put on the ScrapBasket mystery of Cheri's.

That's it for now! I'd like to get more accomplished but I guess I need to be happy with a little textile play throughout my week. I hope you are getting time to quilt!

Little Dresses and a Bit More.....

What a fun mail weekend!

Here are the first of the little dresses for Peru. Thank you Martha and Liz!
I got my little swap quilt from Karen Dever, but am not ready to show it on my blog. The front has been shown on my Facebook group and the backing on Instagram! I love everything about it.
She also designed these adorable patterns and sent them to me with my quilt. Thank you Karen!
Martha sent me these vintage fabrics with the pillowcase dresses. Love! Love! Love! Thank you Martha! (Please no one feel any obligation)
And I won these patterns from Carrie, Cricketwood Prims n' Gardens. I love it! Thanks Carrie!

What a weekend! The weather was amazing too- very spring like. It's about time!! Have an awesome day!

Wild and Wonderful week

It's been a bit of a whirlwind week here! We are two men down in our business (one quit, and one was injured and had surgery on his hand on Wednesday) So I've been trying to get a little sewing done between night and morning! I'm completely exhausted when I get home so I've not much to show.

I got this together last weekend. Next Monday Cheri will share the applique and border treatment ideas. Many of you are sewing along and will no doubt recognize I messed up a couple of blocks.

Gay posted the next set of 1857 blocks. You can get them HERE. My blocks are not sewn, only prepped.

I'm working on a holiday quilt for a designer. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to share, but I thought I could give a sneak peak. A lot is being done by hand, some by machine and a little embroidery.

Here's my instagram feed this week.

Our church and town lost a dear man this week very suddenly. He was 52.
Let your loved ones know that you love them! This life is fleeting.

Love to you all!
